There aren’t many girls out there that would want to have sex with an older male anyway, but why should it be against the law is she consents?
On the other hand, women that have sex with young boys are not looked at in the same way as a man and a girl. Boys are kids also aren’t they?. But, the law doesn’t treat women the same. If a woman has sex with a boy and someone finds out, the woman basically gets a slap on the wrist. Yes she’s listed as a sex offender, but her punishment is nothing compared to what a man’s punishment would be. Why? Because people look at boys having sex as being different than girls having sex. Most boys would jump at the chance to have sex with a good looking older woman and there are women that would jump at the chance to have sex with them. Some would even say it’s good for a boy to learn about sex from an older woman.
Something else to think about is this, up until the early 20th century, girls use to get married around the age of 11. This was not frowned upon, but it was encouraged. Before that in “biblical” times, kids younger than that were ok for sex. Granted, they may have been slaves, but it was done.
I have found nothing in the Bible that prohibits sex with children or that sets an age limit for having sex. The minimum age for marriage under Jewish law is 13 for boys, 12 for girls; however, the kiddushin can take place before that, and often did in medieval times. Muhammad, for whom the Muslim religion is based, had a wife that was 9 years old according to the Hadith.
What it comes down to is a matter of education and a matter of free will. Get rid of the statutory rape stuff. Teach the kids about sex, the pro’s and con’s, and then let them decide. Let the parents of the kids help them make the choice whether to have sex or not. Leave the government, morality and religion out of it.
